According to Pew Research and the crowd science network organization, in 2014, 72% of men and 76% of women who were Internet users were also active on virtual networks, with most of them targeting young people. Determining the number of students and their motivation to use social networks for scientific communities is very important. Therefore, this study has tried to examine the purpose and motivation of the students who are the main corners of the networks. Materials and Method: This is a descriptive-analytic study in which a number of students were selected in quota. The required information in this study was collected by Golnar, Balki and Kakir questionnaires whose reliability and validity were obtained in the article on the motivation of using social virtual networks (Shahab Moradi et al.) According to the coefficient of alpha of Kernbach 0.91. . The questionnaire was distributed by the researchers among the students and the data were analyzed by statistical software SPSS version 22 Results: The findings of this study showed that students of Babol University of Medical Sciences use 98.78% of virtual networks. Students' first motivation to join these networks is self-disclosure with 11.11%. The second motive is to immerse themselves in these networks with 19.04% percent; the third motivation, information search with 18.27%; fourth motivation, time spent with 18.13%; fifth motivation, maintaining relationships with 10.34%; sixth motivation, improvement of the situation Individuals with 8.3% percent and seventh motivation, entertainment with 7.55% percent. Conclusion: Given the emergence of these networks and the increasing use of virtual networks among young people, it is recommended that authorities inform youth about the negative implications of these networks by adopting strategies for youth, as well as providing a space for young people. Use these networks for economic purposes and scientific gatherings.
