The Distribution and Frequency of Hospital Mortality Causes by Age, Sex, and Referral Year in Hospitalized Patients of Ayatollah Rohani Hospital

Background and Objective: A significant contribution of deaths in the community it happen in hospital. Investigating the causes of death in each region can be used as a basis for improving health status and reducing risk factors. The Aim of This Study was distribution and frequency of causes of death in patients Based on age, gender and referral year.
Method: This descriptive-analytic study on 3407 patient death dossier in Ayatollah Rohani Hospital in Babol by census was conducted over a period from 2010 to 2015. The data were collected using data recorded in the medical records unit and analyzed by SPSS 22 software and descriptive and analytic tests (Chi-square).
Findings: Based on the results, Mortality rates were higher in men than in women (55.5%). Also, the highest and lowest mortality rates were in the ICU and operating room respectively. The highest hospitalization time to death was in the ICU.OH section with an average and standard deviation of 13.09 ± 17.81.
Conclusion: In the present study, according to ICD-10 criteria, cardiovascular diseases, cancers and diseases of the nervous system were the most important causes of death. In the meantime, preventive and control measures are suggested to reduce the risk factors for the onset of these diseases.
