Abstract

Background and Objective: Mites are small arthropods with economical, medical and veterinary importance. Tyrophagus putrescentiae invade the fungal cultures and can lead to several damages in cultures. Thus, the aims of this study were to identify and control of mites in contaminated fungal cultures.
Case Report: Mites were collected from contaminated fungal cultures in the mycology laboratory of mycology department in Babol University of Medical Sciences. Then, the collected mites were identified at the species level using valid diagnostic keys.
Conclusion: T. putrescentiae is a detrimental pest which damages fungal cultures. Moreover it can lead to allergies. Therefore, preventive approaches are essential to minimize the pest infestations.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) is an adverse effect of antipsychotic medication. Here, we described an atypical NMS case following treatment with clozapine, without the main clinical features (fever and rigidity) of NMS.
Case report: This report described a rare case of NMS in a 49- year old male with schizophrenia, under treatment with 500mg/day clozapine since 5 months ago, and admitted for evaluation of altered mental status. Additional clinical findings included severe diaphoresis, fluctuating blood pressure and tachycardia. After diagnosis of NMS, treatment with supportive and pharmaco-therapeutic measures were immediately initiated, resulting in complete resolution of symptoms. He was discharged with 30mg aripiprazole daily and presents no side effects in 4 years of follow up.
Conclusion: Although NMS can be easily recognized in typical presentation, but it could be consist of different types of onset, clinical findings and course, and also it can present a benign prognosis if recognized and treated early.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Blood suking arthropoda such as animal ticks transmit pathogenic agents to human and other animals. They inject saliva into the skin of their hosts and cause dermatitis. In this case report, we present a dermatitis case caused by the larval hard tick.
Case report: The Five-member family referred to Ali-ebn-Moosar-Reza Health-care center in Babol due to dermal complications. They complained of irritation, itching and the pain caused by tiny live arthropoda biting. We caught samples of larval tick from their clothing, body, and home that were being identified as the larval hard tick.
Conclusion: This case report reveals the importance of arthropods causing dermatitis in human. Infestation with ticks may be accompanied by clinical signs such as itching, severe irritation, etc. Further studies would be necessary to better understand of reaction types that occur after a ticks bite.

Abstract

Introduction The COVID-19 can cause a broad spectrum of neurologic and systemic manifestations. Case reports on the neurological manifestation of COVID-19 are increasing in the pediatric population. Case report In this study, a child suspected to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) associated with SARS-CoV-19 was reported. This case was a 31-month-old boy presented with transient dysautonomia, progressive symmetric muscle weakness in lower limbs, areflexia with a mild increase in the protein level of cerebro-spinal fluid and no significant evidence of inflammation. The results of an early electromyography-nerve conduction velocities were within normal limit at the fourth day. All radiological and laboratory findings were normal by considering possible causes. Intravenous immunoglobulin was administered, and clinical improvement was remarkable during treatment. Conclusion This case report represented an Iranian child with clinically diagnosed GBS, possibly triggered by SARS-CoV-2. It is recommended to consider COVID-19 in children with the neurological presentation in the current outbreak.

Abstract

Human coronavirus (CoV) infection is accompanied by upper and lower respiratory symptoms. It can infect the central nervous system and cause neurological symptoms (including stroke) (1).
Although recent studies have reported the coronavirus's neurological consequences, the neurological manifestations of coronavirus are also ignored (2).

In this paper, we will discuss the neurological effects of this virus by introducing a stroke after infection by CoV to help diagnose this disease earlier to prevent its side-effects.

Abstract

Background:
Acid maltase deficiency is the cause of Pompe disease (PD), also known as glycogen storage disease type II, which can result in lysosomal glycogen storage. Children, adults, and newborns can all exhibit fundamental characteristics. We described a rare case of Pompe disease (PD) with leukodystrophy manifestations, who was referred two years prior by an orthopedist due to irregular walking.
